Our Story

Pakemelon was founded by Kaya Tauber, a nature-loving creative who started out selling jewelry and accessories from her basement. When summer camp rolled around, Kaya found herself searching for the perfect backpack for her nieces — something cute, just the right size, easy to clean, and private enough to hold personal items. Everything she found was either too big, too tiny, terrible quality or completely see-through.

With a little push from her best friend, Kaya decided to create one herself.

She designed the first Pakemelon bag using tinted PVC — water-resistant, wipeable, and kid-friendly in every way. Her nieces proudly carried the first samples to camp, and after a few quality tweaks, the Pakemelon backpack was ready to take on the world.

Named after the pademelon — a small, pouch-carrying creature from the Australian outback — each Pakemelon bag features prints inspired by its natural habitat, from golden savannas to leafy trails. Every detail is designed with kids in mind: fun, functional, and made for adventure.

Pakemelon isn’t just a backpack — it’s a trusty companion on a magical journey. Whether heading to camp, the park, or the great unknown, your little explorer’s Pakemelon pal is ready to hop along for every adventure, big or small.

Made with love and kangaroo kisses from your favorite adventure auntie,
